High Maintenance to Stay Low Maintenance

Chelsea Green

Let’s get one thing straight — looking effortless takes effort. Yes, I may appear to breeze through life glowing, polished and perfectly put together, but trust me — there’s a routine behind the radiance. The I-just-threw-this-on look? Meticulously maintained. Being “low effort” is a full-time vibe — and one I’ve curated down to a fine art. It’s not about being overdone — it’s about never looking undone.

Here’s what The Luxury Mummy really does to keep it all looking naturally fabulous — without ever looking over the top.

Brows That Wake Up With Me

Microblading was, hands down, one of the best decisions I’ve ever made. No more scrambling with pencils or powders when you’re already running behind — my brows are full, soft, and perfectly shaped the moment I open my eyes. They frame the face effortlessly and give you that clean, pulled-together look before you’ve done anything else. They don’t shout, they just quietly lift and define — exactly how I like everything in life to function.

The Lash Look Everyone Asks About

“Are those your lashes?” is something I hear a lot. The answer? No — but thank you. I wear classic cat-eye lash extensions, subtly lifted, nothing too long or theatrical. The effect is polished, feminine, and utterly wearable — never fake, never heavy. They give that quietly glamorous look that just elevates everything else — and the best part? No mascara needed, ever. You’ll catch me fresh-faced at 8am and still looking like I made an effort. Secret’s out.

Weekly Blow-Dry & Gloss — A Non-Negotiable Ritual

Once a week, I book in for a proper blow-dry. It’s more than a hair appointment — it’s part of my identity. The bounce, the smoothness, the scent — it carries me for days. I usually top it off with a gloss colour every 3 months or so to keep the tone rich, deep, and luminous. It’s not a full colour job — just a kiss of shine and polish that says “I live well” without needing to say anything at all. Nothing beats that just-done feeling, and I wouldn’t give it up for the world.

Twice-Weekly Hair Mask Ritual

Let’s talk serious hair care. Twice a week, I block out time for a full treatment: starting with the Kérastase Scalp Scrub to deeply cleanse and stimulate the scalp, followed by a mask, either one from the Olaplex system (I have the full Olaplex 0–7 system at home), or the Nutritive Masquintense Riche mask to nourish, strengthen, and gloss every strand. It’s a process, yes — but it gives me that thick, glossy, swingy hair that behaves whether it’s up in a claw clip or blown out to perfection. Hair is one of my non-negotiables — because when the hair is right, everything else follows.

Nails That Never Chip, Snap or Flake

My nails are always, always immaculate. I wear gel over acrylic — medium to long, classically elegant, and strong enough to handle the realities of mum life without ever looking it. I go for neutrals, sheers, or a timeless French. They never break, they never look ratty, and they complete every outfit from a white tee to a silk dress. If my nails aren’t done, I don’t feel like myself — it’s that simple.

Tweakments — Done Discreetly

I’ll never gatekeep a good thing. I believe in tweakments — the right ones, done with a soft hand and an expert eye. I’m not here for frozen foreheads or overfilled cheeks. I’m here for balance. A gentle lift, a softened frown, a fresh glow. My approach is subtle, preventative, and utterly private. Nobody can tell. They just think I’m well-rested, stress-free, and ageing very gracefully. Let them wonder.

Looking “effortless” is a full-time strategy. But it doesn’t have to feel exhausting — not when you build rituals that support you. Everything I do is intentional: my lashes, my brows, my blow-dries. There’s a quiet confidence that comes from knowing everything is handled — not for show, but for self-respect. It’s not about looking perfect. It’s about looking like you take care of yourself — and that energy is priceless.

Because true elegance isn’t loud. It’s polished, precise, and always in place.
