Hey Luxury Lovers! If you love an evening gown, and I think we both know I do, Richard Quinn’s AW26 show at Sinfonia Smith Square on Sunday 22 February was the one. A stark black-and-white geometric runway set against all that Baroque grandeur, and forty-odd looks making the case for the hourglass.
The shape
Corseted strapless bodices, sculpted waists, peplums and fishtail hems that flare below the knee — 1950s couture turned up to full volume. Detachable sculptural overskirts, including a black satin one splitting open over a polka-dot column dress. An ivory lace corset dress with a black lace bolero dissolving into tiered black tulle. A sheer high-neck illusion gown embroidered with leaves and finished with black feather cuffs.

The colour
It opens in strict black and white, then blooms: powder pink corsetry, acid yellow, mint satin, pale lemon, red, fuchsia and one ultraviolet purple that stopped me. His florals come in two registers, dense dark winter blooms on black and pale embellished ones, plus polka dots and leaf motifs.

Lace, tulle, satin, velvet, illusion net and feathers, with matte against shine done deliberately. Oversized crystal brooches used structurally — at the neckline, cinching the waist, fastening a halter — with long opera gloves.
My verdict
Old-world glamour for a modern woman. Steal the idea even if you never buy the gown: one brooch, one belt, one properly fitted bodice.
