Hey Luxury Lovers! Richard Quinn showed The Mirrored Garden at Lindley Hall in Westminster on Saturday 19 September, and he turned the room into a private client’s salon: mirrors end to end, enormous crystal chandeliers, plush carpet underfoot. The idea was the ritual of dressing — that heightened hour between the dressing room and the ballroom — which, as you know, is my favourite hour of any day.
The silhouette
Hourglass, hourglass, hourglass. Broad shoulders, halters, waists cinched within an inch of their lives, and skirts that sweep the floor and trail behind you. Fitted bustiers flow into bell skirts, there are dropped waists with taffeta poufs, column dresses with throat-high necks and others plunging to there.

Satin, velvet, tulle, taffeta, lace, sequins, ostrich feather trim, crystal beadwork and Indian embroidery — all of it catching the chandelier light, which is of course the entire point of a mirrored room.
The details I loved
Oversized white silk camellias. Long opera gloves. Enormous crystal brooches pinned at the bust and the waist. Silk rosettes and big bows. Black and ivory hold the collection together, then it opens out into lacquer red, lipstick pink, powder blue, lilac and butter yellow, with his signature florals embroidered so they look like constellations.

Over forty looks, and a supermodel closing it — Helena Christensen took the final walk.
My verdict
This is the collection I would raid for every wedding, gala and “just dinner” I am invited to next year. If you only take one thing: a cinched waist and one enormous brooch will do more for an outfit than anything else you own.
